In 2018, a new local management team took over the operation, making it The BackCountry Squaw Valley.
Located right on the ski slopes in Olympic Valley, the Resort at Squaw Creek provides direct lift service to Palisades Tahoe, which was the site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. The area is known for its unique mountain culture and fascinating history. To explore the best of Donner Summit, check out the following information. This article highlights some of the most popular outdoor activities and recreation opportunities in the area.
Donner Pass Road: The bike route begins in Truckee, and then passes Donner Lake, which is picturesque and partly shaded. It serves as a warm-up before ascending Donner Summit, a granite monolith. As you pedal up the road, you’ll notice that the road is narrow, as it seems to have been carved out of solid rock. At one point, the road appears to be carved out of the rock, and the route covers 1,100 feet of elevation gain.
Verbier Valley
If you’re looking to spend your vacation on the slopes in the Verbier Valley, you’re in luck. Verbier offers some of the best ski passes in the world, which can be paired with a bike rental for the most fun. In addition to the great value of ski passes, Verbier is also known for its renowned bike tours. You can enjoy all three in one day, and even bring your bike with you.
The Verbier area is well-known for freeride skiing and off-piste riding, but cautious intermediates may not like the disjointed layout and inconsistent ratings of the pistes. If you are an experienced skier, however, Verbier offers some of the best freeride terrain in the world. Even heliskiing is available from nearby peaks.
